In addition to basic outpatient services, DCMC Trust was upgraded from a Medical Center to a Hospital by the Ministry of Health in March of 2014, and can accommodate patients who require additional care. A 100-bed hospital under construction will both expand the availability of diagnostic and surgical care and complement xisting health services in the Dodoma area. Dr. Charles Majinge became Director of DCMC in June of 2014 and oversees all services and plans. Dr. Jamjuri Kitange is the Executive Medical Officer.

Outpatient Services

DCMC’s medical services started in 2008 in the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Clinic and today sees more than 800 patients each month.

  • Pharmacy
  • Radiology (ultrasound, echocardiography and digital x-ray)

Diseases Seen in Outpatient

The medical staff is currently addressing the need to create awareness and provide health education in response to the growing health burden of chronic non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease, which have been fueled by the socio-demographic transition to urbanization and sedentary lifestyles.

New Hospital

DCMC is expected to complete a 100-bed hospital in 2015, which will house full emergency, diagnostic and surgical services and bring badly needed trauma care to the Dodoma area. Recent statistics indicate that trauma is approaching the number one cause of death and debilitating injury in Tanzania.

In addition to building the physical facilities, DTHD’s goal is to help nurture staff development through international relationships and medical education scholarship support for promising young professionals.
Comprehensive medical services are to include internal medicine (cardiology), infectious diseases control, intensive care with modern monitoring and lifesaving medical services for pediatrics and adults.
